Making Money Quick Strategy: Set Motivational Goals

If you want to make money quick on the Internet these days you need to set powerful motivational goals.

Why? Because, if you do not have a compelling reason to tear yourself away from the television and sit at the computer developing new skills, you will never successfully make money online.

But you want money, right?

Of course you do. No doubt, many of my readers want to make money even more than I do.

Let me tell you this: You can want to make money with the greatest zeal in the world but chances are you will fail.

I failed. I’ve failed several times.

I failed because I don’t care about money. Few of us actually do. I doubt any individuals are motivated by money.

Because money, in essence, is meaningless. It is an abstract idea given paper and coin form to control commerce.

I cannot bring myself to care about money or the acquisition of money.

But I do care about my family. I love my family.

I care about feeding them, providing shelter, clothing and giving them a good life. I care about their health and I want to buy the medicines that will take away my wife’s pain even if my health insurance company doesn’t.

These are kinds of things most people really care about.

If you try to rally your energies around a concept like money, you’ll ultimately fail because it can’t hold your attention like, for instance, your family can.

You need to find what the most pressing issues are in your life that could be eliminated or elevated by an influx of money.

Motivation comes not from the money, but from the benefits of money.

Today’s Exercise:

Make a list of compelling 10-50 reasons why you absolutely must succeed at making money as an Internet Marketer.

Here is how you phrase it:

My success at Internet Marketing allows me to replace the entire plumbing system of my house before it completely corrodes away.

My success at Internet Marketing allows me to purchase the expensive drug treatment that will reduce my wife’s pain.

And so on.

Phrase the goal as if it is happening now.

Once you’ve made your list, select the top 10 reasons, the ones with the strongest emotional pull, and keep them on hand at your desk.

Write them on a piece of paper, tape them to your monitor, hang it on the wall, put them into a text editor and keep it open on your computer’s desktop. Keep them where you can see them when you begin working, when you end working and when your enthusiasm and energy begin to flag.

Making Money Quick: The Birth of a Blog

by Greg Fisher on October 8, 2009

Hello and welcome to my blog Making Money Quick.

The first thing I want to tell you is that I am not an Internet Marketing guru.

I’m an ordinary guy in financial trouble mainly because of the downturn of the economy and problems with the health insurance industry.

I’m not yet about to lose the house but my family and I are one disaster away from financial collapse.

My wife, who suffers from chronic and unremitting pain, had a nice telecommuting job she could do from home. Recently her employer had to make severe cutbacks in staffing and now sometimes she only makes $50.00 a week.

It’s almost like she lost her job.

Not the employer’s fault. He’s just trying to save his business.

I had a great job as a librarian with benefits and security. Thank God I still have my job but after the governor cut the state budget for libraries 30% (he originally wanted to cut it 50%), my library had to lay off staff for the first time in history.

I wasn’t laid off but I am at the top of my salary range and I have my entire family on my medical and dental benefits package. That makes me a very expensive employee to keep.

I may not survive the next round of staffing layoffs.

Not the library’s fault. They are legally bound to “stay in the black” budget-wise and they’re losing money from the state and from a drop in tax revenue.

So I am motivated — in a way I’ve never been before — to make a second career as an Internet Marketer.

I’ve made a couple of failed attempts already — and we’ll talk about those — but this is a pretty fresh start right now.

And I’m chronicling my experience.

I am an ordinary person — just like you.

I need to make money and yet keep my job at the library.

That’s my mission and that is the story I’ll be telling, as I do it, here.
